Hi, if this is your first visit to my blog welcome to my alphabet challenge. You’ve probably guessed this week is letter C.
I love cats, my avatar being one of course! However this challenge is about painting something new, so I chose a camel and a crab. One crab became two on a candle holder, with the addition of seashells. It hadn’t occurred to me that crabs do work quite well in glass paint with their slightly translucent legs. Now all I need is a holiday home for it to go into!
As I mentioned last week I will be doing an ACEO each week of the challenge, I’m finding it is a great way to be inspired. Here is my camel miniature painting (ACEO are always 2.5 by 3.5 inches).
I’m putting these on ebay, so you get the chance to grab them at a bargain price starting at 99p 🙂 Of course I’m hoping for a bidding war but so far I’ve not mastered ebay with few views! The camel will be joining A and B this weekend, here is the link “My ebay”
Each week I also feature businesses linked to animals. Not wanting to leave cats out, here are two!
Clare Sherwen has a degree in Fine Art (Printmaking) and specialises in Intaglio techniques such as etching and collagraphs. She is a huge fan of animals, especially cats and makes lots of artwork based around these.
Clare therefore fits the letter C challenge perfectly! Here are a couple of her cats, click on the photo to go to her shop.
My second one is a charity The Cats Protection
From humble beginnings in 1927, Cats Protection has grown to become the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. We now help around 218,000 cats and kittens every year through our network of over 250 volunteer-run branches, 29 adoption centres and our homing centre.
Our work doesn’t stop there, however: we also provide an array of cat care information via our publications, website and Helpline; promote the benefits of neutering to prevent unwanted litters from being born and becoming the abandoned cats of tomorrow and seek to educate people of all ages about cats and their care. Website is www.cats.org.uk
An update on Tuesdays experiment – so far the glass paint seems fine on top of the acrylic, so looks like it might work.
Please do let me know of any suggestions for animals and businesses beginning with D for next weeks challenge 🙂
